Di Afrika Barat (yg merupakan tmpt asal jenis ini), buah ini dinamai agbayun,[10] taami, asaa, & ledidi. Jenis ini jg dijuluki buah keajaiban,[11] beri keajaiban, beri ajaib,[11] & beri manis.[12][13][14]
